Magic
Yes that's right! Its real. What a concept, I know. Magic is all based around a few things, but no matter where you are in the universe, a few laws hold true:
- Magic is Everywhere
Which means, you always have a supply external to your own magic.
- Magic is Localized
Which means that the given magic within the universe gets pushed and pulled or otherwise pools in areas. Just because magic is everywhere doesn't mean that its distributed evenly.
- Magic is Wild
Magic, while it can be controlled, cannot be tamed. Fitting too much magic into a single area can cause spontaneous ignition of the latent energy to violent effect.
Magic Users
There are several kinds of magic users within the universe (and many more in other universes). Each is different, but most share a lot of overlap.
- Mage
Mages are the generalists of the magic users. Each mage has been gifted their ability to use magic by a deity. These deities have given their blessing with no contract, bargain, or other pact.
- DemiMage
A demimage is similar to a mage, with two major exceptions: the magic granted by their deity is much less powerful; and they are only capable of casting magic from within a subset of types. Each type can very from demimage to demimage.
- Magicker
Magickers are specialized magic users, only capable of casting a limited range of spells, most only being able to cast one type of spell. These people have made deals, signed contracts, or otherwise given something up to acquire the blessing of their deity.
- Bracer
Bracers are the odd folk out of this bunch. They don't have magic in terms of being able to use it. When magic is concentrated into an area, but stabilized to avoid violent explosions, crystaline structures begin to form. These crystaline structures can then be used and directed by those who posses magical artefacts. Bracers are able to purify and refine these crystals. Bracers get this ability by having had contact with a deity, but have not been given any gifts, nor made any contracts.
- Artificer
Artificers are a very special group of magic users. They have been blessed by no deity. Instead, they've studied how to craft artefacts, objects that can stabilize, direct, and attune magic.
Magic Spell Types
There are several types of magical spells that users of magic can learn. The differentiation is entirely based on how the spell effects reality and what methods it uses to make those effects.
- Wild Magic
Wild magic is entirely spontaneous. These aren't spells insofar as nobody any arcane scientists are aware of can cast make spontaneous wild magic happen.
- Energy Manipulation
Mages who specialize in energy manipulation are able to control the vibration of particles in a localized area to great affect. The most common type of Energy Manipulation is controlling the temperature of a given material.
- Physics Manipulation
Mages who specialize in physics manipulation most frequently manipulate gravity, but can also change the rules in any given area. Want to torture your prisoners? Just stop oxidization and watch as their metabolism stops functioning and they run out of energy nearly instantaniously.
- Healing
Healers do the healing thing. What more could you want?
- Combat
Combat magics is usually centered around the reinforcement of the user's body, but reinforcing other things has been known to work, too, in absurdist ways. Reinforcement basically double enforces an objects 'purpose' on reality. Combat magic specialists have been known to make broken medical machines work using magic alone. Cars with no fuel can still make the vroom vroom. Combat magic is weird okay, and I've included it for the specific purpose of having a friend be able to implement yet another SHIROU.
- Alchemy
Use magic to turn something into something else. Its pretty simple on the surface. Only very powerful magic users can make the change permanent.
- Cool
Cantrips and prestidigitations. Need I say more? Yes? Okay. Its mostly useless but cool magic. Like cleaning clothes or whatever.
- Tech
Magic. But also technology. This class of magic affects electricity and most electromechanical and striaght up digital components will obey. Given the linked nature between electricity and magnetism, this magic could also be purposed for affecting magentics.
